Viridian

A colour introduced first by Winsor & Newton in 1862.  This is the hydrated form of Oxide of Chromium, a chemical alteration that creates a colour of high clarity, brilliance, and transparency.  Good range from mass-tone to undertone.  Until Phthalocyanines were introduced in the mid-20th century, Viridian was the most versatile and important green on the artist’s palette.
