It was Paris in the late 50's and Roger Jullian the inventor of the French Easel was having coffee in an outdoor cafe with his artist friends. On a piece of paper he sketched out what would become one of his more famous designs. The Rexy is a very sturdy easel that provides excellent rigidity for the painter but is light in weight. It is capable of any angle from flat to 90 degrees and securely holds supported paper, canvas or watercolor block. It was a huge hit with oil and pastel painters but especially watercolorists. The easel is produced in the exact same quality as then and now has been improved as a lovely carrying case with a shoulder strap has been added. The case has a pouch that is perfect for accommodating art supplies and small watercolor blocks. Another neat addition is the Rexy paint box that attaches directly to the front of the easel. It measures 12x5x2.5" and has adjustable bars for fitting to the legs of the easel. The top lid can be locked into place at various angles to accommodate various angles of the easel.
