Sennelier Binder Mediums
- Egg Tempera Binder - Contains egg, gum arabic and vegetable oil. Provides a flexible consistency when mixed with with dry pigments. The paint film will be smooth, but will not be able to be reworked with water as with traditional egg tempera — but this allows you to build up layers easily. Thin with water.
- Oil Binder - This binder is made from a non-yellowing vegetable oil and contains a lead-free drying agent that alows the paint depth to dry evenly from the base to the surface. May be gradually mixed in varying proportions according to the pigment.
- Watercolor Binder - Contains gum arabic, honey, water and a preservative. When mixed with dry pigments, it provides a smooth, water-soluble paste with a viscous consistency. Mix with 5-10% water to increase fluidity, while maintaining brilliancy and transparency. It may also be used to thin pre-mixed paints.
