If you never experienced the fun and joy of working and writing on handmade natural colored Lotka paper then you’re missing a most unusual avenue to create. Lotka has a good texture to take media but also is fun to take notes on with any type of pen. It’s more or less the only paper we know of that provides professional standards without formal confines of a pale white sheet.

The paper works beautifully with all sorts of art materials including ink, graphite, artist crayon, pastel and light washes. These journals feature 72 sheets of paper that vary in weight due to the handmade nature of the paper making process. Generally, the paper has a similar weight to a 60 lb. paper but varies from 50 lb. to 70 lb.

An open spine allows these journals to lay flat so you can work on sheets from end to end. By using both sides you can create up to 144 sketches or pages of thoughts and notes. Select from three fold-over journal covers made with Black, Curry or Turquoise Crinkled Long Stripe pattern paper. The fold-over cover has a matching string tie that wraps around a special bone button that is carved in the shape of an elephant with the trunk up (hence the name “Lucky Journals”).
