Lascaux Aquacryl is a revolutionary watercolor/acrylic paint that is different from any other water media that has come before it, based on an unique concept which combines the special qualities of traditional watercolors and those of acrylics. It is a very exciting hybrid medium which totally opens new dimensions in creativity with color. At full concentration, Aquacryl produces strong, rich colors and handles like a very smooth, fluid acrylic. Diluted with water, it delivers washes and glazes that are clearer than some of the finest traditional watercolors, creating beautiful, transparent washes. When laid down in thin layers, Aquacryl is almost completely water resistant when dry so you can overglaze without dissolving previous layers of paint. Unlimited layers of color can be layered without underlaying layers redissolving. Thicker layers, on the other hand, even when dry, can be partially redissolved with water and reused.

Aquacryl consists of finely dispersed, pure, 100% lightfast pigments and a unique water soluble, age resistant acrylic resin binder that will not crack even in the thickest layers. It can be used in extremely heavy water washes that will not breakdown. Aquacryl dries to a velvety matt finish in any concentration, durably preserving the richness and intensity of the color even when dry. Aquacryl can be used directly or diluted with water on watercolor paper as well as on virtually any rigid or flexible absorbent substrate.
