“….Matisse Derivan makes a large range of products, but the range that I’m most proud of is our Matisse range of Structure and Flow paint and a range of really useful mediums to go with them.  We make these paints equal to and more often, better than any other acrylic paint made in the world. I know this because we test our paint against all our apparent competitors, and it turns out, there are very few.

We source and use the best possible pigments and ingredients from all over the world, although whenever we can without compromise to quality, we support our local manufacturers.   We seriously maximise the pigment loading in all our paints where strength of colour is beneficial to artists….you’d be amazed what other companies think is the max! Our colour range consists of mixtures and single pigment colour and we’re adding more single pigment colour all the time.  In fact, percentage wise, our range has more than anyone else in the world.




Matisse Derivan is a family owned company that is small enough to be responsive to artists’ needs and desires and big enough to see those projects to fruition. That’s a great part of working here, but the thing that really makes my day is creating a product or colour that no one knows they want yet, and seeing that WOW reaction.  Our GM, Steven Patterson, is a real visionary, and he lets me go my own way.
