First developed in the nineteenth century, Cerulean is, in fact, the cobalt-tin member of the Cobalt “family” of pigments. It offers the same exceptional degree of permanence combined with good depth and range from mass-tone to undertone, and is the only Cobalt that doesn’t show a violet bias. The name comes from classical references to ‘caeruleum’ when describing things blue. Strongly granulating in water colour.
