Made in oil from a pigment (Anthraquinone) derived from the same family as the original Alizarin (1,2 Dihydroxyanthraquinone Lake). The colour offers the same clarity and brilliance although not the same subtle violet undertone. The water colour is milled with different shade quinacridones and has been available from Winsor & Newton since 1996.
